Battle Roar

Action ability

Battle Roar is a targetable ability which decreases multiple enemies morale (MOR) and mobility (MOB).  Check the strategy guide for expanded commentary on these two factors, but we'll touch on them quickly...

  • MOR affects both the AF and DF of a unit.  The higher the MOR, the more accurate your actions become and also the harder you become to be hit.

  • MOB affects the chance of your selected action to happen at all.  I'm seeking some sort of verification on this, but I think whatever your MOB is, that's the percentage of you being able to cast whatever you have selected.  MOB isn't on the unit's card anywhere but can be seen in-game.  Simply drag your mouse over a unit and you'll see MOB.  If your MOB is less than 100%, the chances of you carrying out your action will be affected accordingly.  If an attack or action is unsuccessful due to MOB, you'll read in the battle log "Unit X was unsuccessful with Basic Attack 2 (or whatever action you chose) because he/she is immobilized".

This ability is an action ability that doesn't rely on your basic attack, so any AF bonuses you've acquired from equipment or weapon abilities don't apply.  The successfulness of this ability depends how much AF you can generate from your core stats.  Since all units which get this ability are melee, you should purchase high amounts of Strength and Dexterity for your unit.

This ability seems to have been lost in the shuffle, but is still a very powerful, strategic tactic.  As your Battle Roar level increases it starts affecting multiple units which can be a real pain to deal with.  It is stackable, so having multiple units with the ability can flip the odds in your favor.  Infected opponents will have a much harder time attacking or picking battle actions at all.  The loss in their MOR also allows you to attack with better accuracy.  You'd think an ability this powerful would be 2 AP, but it's not.  -45 MOR and -33% MOB to five enemies is a terrific value at only 5 AP!  And you get 7 charges!

This ability pairs very nicely with terrifying or immobilization strategies...I'm sure ALL of you will have the pleasure of facing these types of squads at one point or another...Enjoy!
